Welcome to the new Sonoma County Salmon Coalition website. The Coalition is composed of a broad-based group of individuals, agencies and associations seeking to protect and restore salmon habitats in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Knights Valleys areas of Sonoma County.
Our Mission
The mission of the Salmon Coalition is: to protect and enhance existing habitat and to restore historic habitat; to promote the recovery and maintenance of salmonid fish populations in the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys of the Russian River Watershed; and to create sustainable partnerships, both public and private that allow property owners, public agencies and conservation groups the ability to contribute to these efforts while balancing the need to provide for regional economic viability and regulatory certainty. Our Goals
Recognizing the need to protect the region’s natural resources as well as its economic viability, the Salmon Coalition works closely with associations, agencies and private landowners to identify other parties who share an interest in achieving our goals, including: 1) the development of a strategy that contributes to the recovery and conservation of salmonids and their habitat in Alexander, Dry Creek and Knights Valleys, and 2) providing regulatory certainty for individuals who utilize uplands and streams within these Valleys.
